Tilt Garage Door – How Advantage?

Written Jaclyn Fitzgerald and published on https://hipages.com.au/.

When it comes to installing garage doors, there are a lot of decisions you need to make. One of the first will be what type to go for: sectional or tilt garage doors. A lot of the time, we meet homeowners who assume it doesn’t really matter either way, but there are actually very defined advantages between these two major garage door types.

Why Choose a Tilt Garage Door?

While you may think that all you need from a garage door is the ability to get in and out of the garage quickly and easily, the garage door is also a major external feature of the home.  That’s why you want a garage door that looks beautiful as well as works well and the tilt garage door ticks both of these boxes.  Here’s what you need to know.

What is a Tilt Garage Door?

tilt garage door is a type of garage door that has a solid, one piece tilting panel and pivoting arms at both sides of the garage door opening.  The door operates by the pivoting arms raising the tilting panel upwards and outwards until it rests horizontally against the garage ceiling.  Tilt garage doors can be clad with just about any material.

Advantages of Tilt Garage Doors

There are several advantages to installing a tilt garage door in your home.  Firstly is the fact that these doors require very little headroom when they are open.  This means that you don’t lose overhead space when you are opening the door.  In fact, a tilt garage door can operate with as little as 25mm space between the door opening and the ceiling.  Tilt garage doors are also incredibly versatile design wise.  This is because they can have just about any type of finish applied including different types of timbers, solid colours, and a range of patterns.  You can even have window panels included in the door if you wish.  Some standard profiles that you will find include roller door profiles, timber battens, western red cedar, plywood, a panel profile, and a k panel profile.  The design flexibility of the tilt garage door means that they will perfectly complement any style of home.

You also have options in the way that your tilt garage door opens.  That is, you can choose to manually operate the door (physically getting out of the car to unlock and open it) or to have the door automated.  An automated tilt garage door is usually operated using a programmed remote control that you can keep in the car.  Just hit the button to open the door as you are approaching or leaving the garage, and hit it again to lower and lock the garage door when you are ready.  No more getting rained on because you have to get out of the car to open the door!
